Finding Objects that are Exactly and Not Exactly the Same

ccss.math.content.k.md.b.3 finding objects that are exactly and not exactly the same

We can say that objects are exactly the same when they are:

  • the same size
  • the same shape
  • the same color

These shirts are exactly the same because they exactly have the same size, the same shape, and both have the same color, blue.

We can use check boxes to make sure that the objects are exactly the same. If we get all three checks, then we can say that the objects are the exactly the same.

Therefore, these shirts are exactly the same!

Finding Objects that are Not Exactly the Same

Sometimes objects can be the same, but not exactly the same. Sounds tricky, right? Look at the shirts.

These shirts are the same but one is blue and the other one is red.

These shirts are the same size, the same shape, but not the same color. One is blue and the other one is red.

Check boxes can be used too! Look at these cute teddy bears!

The teddy bears are the same but one is big and the other one is small.

Activity #1

Are the objects the same? Check the correct boxes. Draw a Happy Face if the objects are exactly the same and a Sad Face if they are not.
